Author visit

We were delighted to welcome former Royal Marine Andrew Rigsby, who served in the Falkland Campaign in 1982, who came to talk to Yrs 5and 6 about his new book, Sabre Prattling.

Andrew, who lives in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, is a writer and researcher focusing on gun crime, with his new book published by Beachy Books. This book explores how the English language is liberally populated with idioms, similes and metaphors associated with firearms and conflict, going back to the 14th Century. This ties in neatly with the grammatical studies undertaken by Yrs 5 and 6 this year and we are very grateful that Mr Rigsby could spare us time in his busy book launch schedule.
